To me, balance is a feeling.
In this video, I used simple shapes to represent the visual aspect of my understanding about the word “balance.”
The project was done in After Effects.
Balance is nothing but the way that things should look. It is a reaction and a feeling that we have to the things that “look” even. A good example is the human face. Our faces are uneven, unsymmetrical but they look balanced. It becomes the reason why we look beautiful and sexy.
In fact, we will never be able to define the correct meaning of this word. And yet, without balance, our world falls apart. The beauty of balance ties our world together.
Part oneof this project shows the visual aspect of my understanding about the word “balance.”

This is a dynamic data visualization based on earthquakes that happened from 2009 to 2012.
As the viewer clicks on the screen, circles will move based on the magnitude of the earthquake. The bigger the circle, the closer the earthquake is to the Earth’s surface. Once the viewer hovers over the circle, it will also tell the place where the earthquake happened.
This project was coded in Processing.
People around the world celebrate their Halloweens at different times in different ways. For example, in America, children go out to do trick or treat. In China, people go out and light the lanterns. They believe that the sky lanterns will light the spirit's path back to earth.
This book records different Halloweens around the world.
